A frosty, vibrant summer refresher made with frozen watermelon, lime juice, and honey. Blended to slushy perfection, this hydrating drink is ready in minutes and perfect for hot days or gatherings.
6 cups diced seedless watermelon, frozen in chunks (about 900 g)
1 1/2 cups ice cubes (about 200 g)
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (30 ml)
1–2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup, to taste (15–30 ml)
Pinch of fine sea salt
Optional: 6–8 fresh mint leaves
Optional: 1/2 cup cold water or coconut water (120 ml)
Slice off the rind, remove seeds, and dice watermelon. Freeze in a single layer 2–3 hours.
Add 3 cups frozen watermelon, 3/4 cup ice, lime juice, sweetener, salt, and mint (if using) to a blender.
Blend on low, then high 30–45 seconds. Add water/coconut water if the mixture is too thick.
Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity as needed; blend briefly to combine.
Chill serving glasses with ice water or rim them with sugar, salt, and lime zest while the first batch blends.
Finish the batch by adding remaining ingredients and blending again until smooth.
Freezing watermelon chunks is key to achieving a slushie texture.
Adjust sweetener based on watermelon ripeness (pile it on for extra juicy sweetness).
Optional additions like mint and coconut water can elevate the flavor.
Store unblended ingredients separate in the freezer for quick future batches.
