This bright, sweet, and refreshing homemade strawberry lemonade is a perfect summer drink packed with juicy strawberries, tangy lemon, and just the right hint of sweetness. Ideal for gatherings or a simple treat.
1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from 5 to 7 lemons)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water (for the simple syrup)
4 cups cold water (for mixing)
2 cups ice cubes, plus more for serving
1 lemon, thinly sliced (for garnish)
1 cup sliced strawberries (for garnish)
Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
Prepare the strawberries by rinsing, hulling, and slicing in half.
In a saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup water. Heat over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Let the syrup cool slightly.
Juice the lemons and measure out 1 cup of the fresh lemon juice, removing any seeds.
In a blender, combine the strawberries and 1 cup of cold water. Blend until smooth.
Strain the strawberry puree through a fine-mesh strainer into a large pitcher.
Add the lemon juice, sugar syrup, and 4 cups cold water to the pitcher. Stir well to combine.
Add 2 cups of ice and stir until chilled. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
Serve over additional ice with lemon slices, strawberries, and fresh mint leaves for garnish.
For a smoother drink, consider using a finer strainer or cheesecloth.
The drink is best served immediately or chilled for a few hours for optimal flavor.
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
