A vibrant, antioxidant-rich summer drink combining freshly brewed tea, sweet blueberry puree, and zesty lemon juice. Quick to make, naturally sweetened, and packed with flavor for a guilt-free iced tea experience.
2 cups fresh blueberries (frozen work too)
3 individual black tea bags (or green tea)
4 cups purified water, divided
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 3-4 lemons)
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup or raw honey (adjust to taste)
1 fresh lemon, sliced (for garnish)
Fresh mint leaves (for garnish)
Ice cubes for serving
Brew the Tea Base: Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, submerge tea bags, and steep for 4-5 minutes. Discard tea bags and pour into a pitcher.
Make the Blueberry Compote: In a small pot, cook blueberries and 2 tablespoons water over medium heat for 4-5 minutes until burst. Mash to puree.
Strain and Combine: Press blueberry puree through a fine mesh strainer into the pitcher. Discard solids.
Sweeten and Chill: Stir in maple syrup or honey and lemon juice until dissolved. Add remaining 2 cups cold water and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes before serving with ice, lemon slices, and mint.
Frozen blueberries may require extended cooking time to break down.
For a lighter flavor, substitute half the black tea with green tea.
Adjust sweetness by adding more or less syrup/honey.
Serve chilled for maximum refreshment.
