This sweet, tangy lemon iced tea is a refreshing summer staple. Ready in under 20 minutes, it combines bright citrus flavors and honey for a post-workout or backyard beverage that’s perfect for any occasion.
4 black tea bags (or 2 tablespoons loose black tea leaves)
4 cups water
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 5–6 lemons)
1/4 cup honey (adjust to taste)
Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Crushed ice, for serving
Bring 4 cups water to a boil. Place tea bags or loose leaves in a heatproof pitcher and pour hot water over. Steep for 5–7 minutes. Remove tea bags/strain leaves.
While the tea steeps, squeeze fresh lemon juice into a bowl. Heat 1/4 cup honey with 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until honey dissolves (~1–2 minutes), then mix with lemon juice.
Add the lemon-honey mixture to the steeped tea, stirring gently. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes (or speed-chill in an ice bath).
Pour over ice in glasses. Garnish with lemon wedges and fresh mint leaves if desired. Enjoy immediately or store for later.
Keeps in an airtight jar up to a week – store syrup and tea separately for best freshness.
Add fresh berries or sliced orange to the pitcher while chilling for extra flavor.
Taste the syrup first! Add honey gradually if you dislike overly sweet iced tea.
