2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups chilled sparkling water
1 cup half-and-half
1 cup ice cubes
Fresh strawberry slices for garnish
Optional whipped cream
Cook strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan over medium heat for 4-5 minutes until softened.
Mash strawberries, strain mixture, and stir in vanilla extract.
Fill glasses with ice and strawberry slices.
Divide syrup into glasses, add half-and-half, then top with sparkling water.
Garnish with strawberries and whipped cream if desired.
